Role of Course Parent
Each course has a volunteer Course Parent who looks after the course members and the course facilitator. The Course Parent should:
1 Arrive a little early for class and organize the preparation of the room with assistance from class members eg lighting, heating or coling, urn. Ensure that all power is turned off on leaving the room.
2 Circulate the attendance book and check out the Housekeeping folder for any new material to be circulated.
3 Provide the Newsletter Editor with a brief of account of the content of classes for inclusion in each newsletter.
4 List students with phone numbers. Keep one copy of list and give the tutor another copy. Make sure students have Course Parent’s phone number.
5 Liaise with the facilitator in case of the facilitator’s absence. He or she may or may not ask the Course Parent to facilitate the missing session. If not, then the Course Parent will ensure that all students are aware that the session will not take place. If yes, then the Course Parent has the right to a full set of notes from the tutor for that session.
6 Make themselves known to new members and organize membership fees, if necessary, with the aid of the Housekeeping book so that person knows who to contact in case of illness, etc.
